After NYC and Milan, the duel is brought to the “Paris Fashion Week”

While Milan Fashion Week just ended, it's the turn of Paris to welcome the designers for the autumn-winter 2013-2014. Greenpeace had to be at the appointment: after having challenged the fashion in New York and Milan it's now time to carry the message in Paris.

The challenge to the fashion industry covers three important segments of their supply chains: leather, packaging and textiles. Because the production of these materials can contribute to the destruction of forests in Indonesia, the Amazon, and the toxic contamination of water resources on the planet! Our activists were therefore present at the Jardin des Tuileries, for a rather special catwalk : they took duties relentlessly to ensure a presence at the entrance of the official Fashion Week. Like in New York or Milan, activists were bringing directly the message to the fashion industry : the brands have to engage smartest trends, to make a fashion that does not destroy rainforests, and does not pollute not the water resources of the planet.

But Fashion Week lasts a week …

That is why, this morning, Greenpeace activists went on the posh Avenues Montaigne and George V to directly pay a visit to Chanel and Hermès. These two brands, symbols of French ‘chic’, have been ranged in “black” in the Fashio Duel ranking, because, despite requests
Greenpeace repeated for weeks, they refused to answer our questions and provide the informations necessary for their evaluation.

These brands have refused dialogue, knowingly making the choice of opacity regarding their environmental policies.

We will seek answers as brands remain silent. You can help us by participating in signature or video on: http://fr.thefashionduel.com

And do not forget. A week-long fashion week …
